But, the buzz and excitement among Singapore’s art community over the grand opening of the gallery is palpable. The gallery aims to host all major art exhibitions in the country. It will house contemporary arts not only of the country but also major art pieces from other Southeast Asian artists.

NAFA Art Galleries

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts is the pioneer art school of Singapore. The best works of its students are showcased in the school’s gallery along Bencoolen Road, alongside work by other established local and international artists.

Chan Hampe Galleries

The Chan Hampe Galleries are located within the famous Raffles Hotel. While their exhibitions vary widely, they tend to showcase imaginative interpretations of the mundane and familiar in Singapore.

artCommune Gallery

The artcommune Gallery is Singapore’s first gallery where artists and artwork can be found in the same location. It is the home of reputable 1st and 2nd generation local artists such as Cheong Soo Pieng and Lim Tze Peng.

Tunnel@Esplanade

The Tunnel@Esplanade isn’t really an art ‘gallery’ insomuch as it is a showcase of installation art along a public walkway. Although it may not possess the trappings of a traditional gallery, don’t let that detract from the high standard of artwork that is showcased within.
